Returning with her first new music since releasing the lauded “How can I” EP earlier this year, 박혜진 Park Hye Jin announces “CLOUDS”, a collaboration with fellow LA-based producer Nosaj Thing.
“CLOUDS” is the latest highlight in what has been an incredible year for the young rapper, singer, DJ and producer. It follows on from her recently released “Can you” video and remix of that same track by Galcher Lustwerk as well as her recent collaboration with Blood Orange, who added his own vocals to Hye Jin’s “CALL ME”, praised by the New York Times for it’s “suspended, isolated, wondering” take on the song.
Her “How can I” EP, released earlier this year on Ninja Tune was lauded by fans and critics alike, with support from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, V Magazine, Pitchfork, Nylon, Jezebel, FADER, DAZED, i-D, Mixmag, Billboard, E!, Resident Advisor, Stereogum, NME, Exclaim!, Hypebeast and many more.
The lead single “Like this”—hailed by Mixmag as one of the “best tracks of 2020 so far” and recently featured on the FIFA 2021 soundtrack—was supported across BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music (where it was playlisted for multiple weeks) with plays from Annie Mac, Clara Amfo, Lauren Laverne, Phil Taggart and many more. In the US the track was #1 of ‘Top Electronic’ in the NACC Charts (North American College and Community Radio), and in the ‘Top 200’ overall, with further support from KEXP, KCRW, SiriusXMU and more.
My god, what an absolutely incredible Suite. I'll admit, I've struggled to get into Pharoah Sanders due to diving headfirst into some of his most challenging catalogue and that never worked. This is the perfect place to restart. Floating Points is new for me and I can honestly say I've never heard synthesizer music this lush and organic before. the LSO is just perfect. This is one of those albums that any serious music fan needs in their life. The perfect swan song for the great Pharaoh! 5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
